Koenig & Bauer Celmacch expands its flexo printing offering for corrugated board with a partnership with Chinese manufacturer Guangdong Keshenglong Hi-Tech Group. This cooperation is accompanied by the launch of the Prima series, positioned in the mid-range segment.
The Prima series, two possible configurations produced on two sites
The new Prima range is available in two configurations. The Prima version corresponds to a flexographic printing machine. The PrimaCut version incorporates a rotary die-cutter with Open Close architecture and moving units. All these features are based on proven Koenig & Bauer Celmacch technologies.
This new offer is aimed at processors seeking a lower level of investment than that required for high-end lines such as High Board Line machines, with a compromise between automation, output and cost.
Koenig & Bauer Celmacch, based in Desenzano del Garda, Italy, is responsible for development and design. Manufacturing is based on Keshenglongâ??s capabilities, including a 60âeuros000Â m 2 in Foshan, China. All machines are manufactured to standards defined by the Italian manufacturer, who retains final assembly and quality control according to in-house protocols.
The Chroma High Board Line continues to be produced in Italy.
Entering the high-volume mid-range segment
With this mid-range range, Koenig & Bauer Celmacch is expanding its customer base beyond the high-end, targeting Asia and emerging markets in particular.
Stephen Kimmich, Chairman of Koenig & Bauer, explains: "Our Impact strategy aims to consolidate Koenig & Bauer's position as an agile technology provider in key growth markets. The partnership with Guangdong Keshenglong and the Prima series illustrate this combination of technology and cost control through global collaboration, to capture new customer segments in the mid-technology sector."
Luca Celotti, Managing Director of Koenig & Bauer Celmacch, adds: "The market volume for Open Close technology is comparable to that which we address with High Board Line machines. This represents untapped potential."
Sales already recorded in Europe
The first orders have been received in Europe. One machine has already been sold in Eastern Europe by the end of 2025, followed by two more in Southern Europe. The first model will be assembled in May 2026, and go into production by the end of the year.
