Raja and Ranpak strengthen historic collaboration to meet EU recyclability requirements

With the European Union now setting member states a target of 100% recyclable packaging by 2030, manufacturers are stepping up the development of new solutions. France-based packaging distributor Raja and US manufacturer of cushioning systems and consumables Ranpak have signed a new commercial agreement.

The partnership between the two groups, which have been working together since the 1980s, covers three main areas of development for paper-based cushioning solutions in Europe,

Together, the two groups aim to create new paper cushioning solutions, drawing on Ranpak's R&D center in the Netherlands and on feedback from Raja customers.

In addition, 20 people will be recruited at Raja to advise customers on the customized implementation of paper protection and cushioning solutions.

They also plan to market new packaging solutions for transporting temperature-sensitive products such as food and medicines, such as the RecyCold Climaliner isothermal packaging solution.

"The agreement with Ranpak will enable us to develop unique expertise in paper cushioning solutions in Europe, at a time when companies are turning to easily recyclable packaging." said Catherine Cambier, General Manager, Packaging and Industrial Equipment, Raja Group.
