The joint project of paper manufacturer Lecta and Volpak is to combine material innovation and practical application in the flexible packaging industry.

Volpak of the Coesia Group, which specializes in horizontal form-fill-seal solutions for the packaging industry, and specialty paper manufacturer Lecta have embarked on a collaborative project to test and validate new packaging materials.

Lecta will explore the use of sustainable papers in flexible packaging, and Volpak will ensure that these new materials can be used effectively on existing packaging machines. These tests will be carried out at Volpak's Pouch lab research center in Barcelona.

"This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between innovation and the practical application of materials, ensuring that environmentally-friendly papers meet the operational requirements of modern packaging lines." summarize the two Spanish companies.

Lecta has already launched barrier products for various packaging applications, including flow packs, sachets and butter packaging.
The paper group is now working to innovate by combining different barrier and heat-sealing properties to meet specific packaging needs, notably those of catering items, including cups.
