CODIPAG France unveils the QUICKER UV LED exposure frame for flexographic plates
CODIPAG France introduces its QUICKER UV LED exposure unit, designed for processing presensitized flexographic, letterpress and magnesium plates. Featuring LED technology, this innovation offers adjustable power levels up to 200 times greater than conventional fluorescent frames. The perfectly homogeneous UVA radiation eliminates the variations associated with fluorescent tubes. The UVA head lasts up to 25,000 hours, and the fixture requires no warm-up time. Available in 635x762, 900x1200 and 1270x2030 mm formats, the QUICKER UV LED responds to the imminent transition imposed by the phase-out of fluorescent tubes scheduled for 2026-2027. Highcon and Hybrid Software join forces to improve digital cutting workflow
Highcon, based in Yavne, Israel, and Hybrid Software, based in Ghent, Belgium, announce a strategic partnership designed to transform digital die-cutting workflows for packaging and display converters. By integrating Hybrid's advanced PDF software PACKZ with Highco's digital die-cutting systems, the collaboration aims to simplify production processes, improve accuracy and accelerate lead times. Customization of the PACKZ engine for Highcon introduces advanced features such as optimized PDF file management and high-resolution previews. Automated XML export capabilities enable better integration and reduce set-up times.
Koenig & Bauer and Actega extend their partnership for a further three years
Koenig & Bauer and Actega announce the renewal of their development partnership, already in place for over eight years, for a further three years. The agreement was formalized on November 1, 2024, following discussions at Drupa earlier this year. The partnership focuses on the integration of inline coating starter kits on new Rapida presses, as well as joint initiatives in research and development, quality assurance, and marketing. Actega coatings will continue to be used in Koenig & Bauer's demonstration center, enabling ongoing product optimization for sheetfed offset presses.
Amcor acquires Berry Group in $13 billion global mega-merger
Packaging giant Amcor announces the acquisition of US-based Berry Group for $13 billion. This strategic combination will create an entity with 400 packaging plants worldwide and 75,000 employees. The agreement, in the form of an exchange of shares, allocates 63% of the capital to Amcor and 37% to Berry. This merger marks a diversification for Amcor, which strengthens its position in rigid containers while consolidating its existing offer in flexible packaging. The operation will expand Amcor's presence in Eastern Europe, while enabling Berry to penetrate the Asian and Latin American markets. With a budget of $180 million for research and development and 10 innovation centers, the combined group plans to accelerate the creation of sustainable packaging solutions, a key strategic focus. Annual sales of the new entity will reach $24 billion, with an EBITDA margin of $4.3 billion, 50% of which will come from the United States. Amcor anticipates synergies of $650 million following completion of the agreement.
