French food packaging solutions giant Guillin pursues its growth strategy in cartonboard. Listed on Euronext, the family-owned group, which has sales of around 885 million euros from 21 sites, has entered into exclusive negotiations with a view to simultaneously acquiring the business assets of Cartonnerie Moderne, Défi Imprimerie and Alpes Emballages. The operation would be led by Wefold Diffusion, a subsidiary recently created to structure this expansion in folding carton packaging.
Three sites with sales of 13 million euros
The three companies, all headed by Vincent Rey, specialize in the manufacture of pastry, snack, salad and delicatessen boxes, customized or not, for the catering trade.
Cartonnerie Moderne, based in Avignon in the Vaucluse region, is the largest site, with sales of around 11.2 million euros. Défi Imprimerie is based in Saint-Cyprien, Loire, and Alpes Emballages in Lardier-et-Valença, Hautes-Alpes. These structures employ a total of some thirty people across the three sites, and together generate sales of 13 million euros.
They share a common focus on small and medium production runs, with a capacity for customization and know-how in integrated printing and die-cutting.
Integration scheduled for the first half of the year
The transaction could be finalized by the end of June, subject to final agreements and the usual conditions for this type of transaction.
The acquisition would enable the Doubs-based group to strengthen "its offer of multi-material packaging, personalized or not, to provide the widest range of food packaging on the market and thus meet all its customers' needs" he says.
