Japanese digital printer manufacturer Roland DG expands its VersaObject range with the MO-180. This UV flatbed model complements the MO-240, with a smaller format and the ability to print on objects and substrates up to 20 cm thick and 458 x 305 mm in area.
Equipped with two offset print heads, the MO-180 printer reaches 1.90 m 2 /h in standard mode. At the same time, it prints in white with double the productivity of previous models. EUV5 inks, available in CMYK, white, varnish, orange and red, ensure rapid drying and extend the gamut by around 20%. A primer is also available for adhesion to glass or metal. Roland has also specially formulated V-Bond inks for the MO-180, which are more resistant and comply with toy standards (only available in CMYK, white and varnish).
An optional rotary module enables printing on cylindrical objects from 10 to 121 mm in diameter. The interface is based on a 7" color touch screen and automatic head cleaning system.
The MO-180 comes with the VersaWorks 7 RIP, now macOS-compatible, which automates layer management (white, varnish, primer) and supports PDF, EPS and PS formats. The machine is also connected to the Roland DG Connect cloud platform for performance monitoring, consumables management and remote support.
"The new MO-180 is the perfect complement mO-240 flatbed printing table the new, larger machine we launched at the end of last year. It offers customers a more compact option for the production of a variety of high value-added items in small and medium runs "says Philip Chu, product manager for UV printers at Roland DGA.
