The TrueVis VG4, the new generation of eco-solvent printers from Roland DG

Roland DG's new range of printing/cutting machines combines an upgrade in print quality and day-to-day production conditions.

Roland DG launches a new generation of print & cut machines with the TrueVis VG4 series. Available in two widths of 54 and 64 inches, this range is aimed at sign shops and large-format printers who require high visual quality in a simplified workflow. At the same time, the Japanese manufacturer extends the compatibility of Greenguard Gold-certified TR3 ecosolvent inks to the entire TrueVis range.

The VG4-540 and VG4-640 incorporate developments in color management and automation. " With the TrueVis VG4 series, we've focused on what matters most to signmakers today: outstanding image quality, predictable color and a smarter, more efficient workflow." says Ryugo Nimura, Executive Director of Roland DG's Global Sales and Marketing Division.

Image quality and gamut expansion

The VG4 features finer droplet ejection control combined with revised colorimetric processing. The result is improved sharpness of detail, smoothness of gradation and repeatability of hues.

In addition, TR3 red and light black inks (now available for the TrueVis VG4 and TrueVis XG-640 series) expand the gamut and facilitate branded color adjustment. Mid-tones gain in density, while neutral grays are better stabilized. The range's other optional inks - orange, green, light cyan, light magenta and white - remain available to cover a variety of uses, from adhesives to vehicle wraps and backlit applications.

Optimized production and consumption flows

Roland DG has also made changes to its workflow that reduce set-up time, minimize downtime and simplify day-to-day operations, it assures. Printing can now be launched directly from the control panel, limiting interaction with the RIP station. The Roland DG Connect platform also offers remote control of queues and machine status.

The series comes with PDF 2.0-compatible VersaWorks 7, featuring accelerated processing and advanced color management functions. Variable data printing is also supported.

Media management is based on memorizable presets, reducing set-up times. For long production runs, the rewinder and pre-cutting functions help limit operator intervention and streamline finishing.

"Combined with our latest TR3 inks, the VG4 enables users to produce high-end images with confidence, while maintaining high productivity and low operating costs."

Roland DG has announced a reduction in ink consumption of up to 30%, depending on the printing modes used, compared with competing machines. Optimization is based on both profiles and ink deposit management.
