Two German industrial heavyweights join forces in the field of automation. Printing press manufacturer Koenig & Bauer has joined forces with Siemens, a specialist in the industrial sector, to design a new generation of more flexible machines.
Cooperation focused on equipment flexibility
The project is based on a modular approach designed to enhance the adaptability of Koenig & Bauer presses to the needs of today's production lines. The two groups are combining their respective expertise to design systems capable of rapidly integrating functional modules, simplifying maintenance and increasing scalability.
Both companies state that the aim is to "setting new industry standards" by offering more automated, modular equipment capable of meeting ever more specific manufacturing requirements.
"By combining our expertise with Siemens' technological know-how, we are creating synergies that will enable revolutionary developments in mechanical engineering." says Andreas Pleßke, Chairman of the Board of Koenig & Bauer, who adds that this partnership represents a major step forward for Koenig & Bauer "to sustainably strengthen our capacity for innovation" from the manufacturer.
Siemens, for its part, is highlighting its desire to support the digitization of the machine building sector by combining it with its Siemens Xcelerator range.
First industrial applications expected soon
The first results of this new cooperation will be unveiled shortly, according to the two partners, without further details.
Koenig & Bauer already uses Siemens automation technologies in its metal packaging varnishing lines via its subsidiary Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint. This has enabled us to reduce commissioning times, adapt machines to customer requirements via software configuration, and prepare for the integration of digital services such as traceability and consumables optimization.
