Labelexpo 2025: Tau G3, the new generation of Durst label and packaging presses

Both Tau G3s feature new automation functions, increased ink flexibility and optimized architecture.

Durst Group waited until Labelexpo Europe 2025, held this year in Barcelona, to present its latest digital printing platform dedicated to labels and flexible packaging: the Tau G3.

Available in two versions, Core and Peak, this range is aimed at processors seeking to reconcile speed, operating flexibility and enhanced quality control.

Tau G3 Core and Peak, a new architecture for productivity and process stability

Based on the mechanical design of the Tau RSC, the G3 has been redesigned. The range now features an LED status display, easier access to components, a redesigned electrical cabinet and an ergonomic inspection station with D50 and RGB lighting.

This new series features 1200 x 1200 DPI resolution and prints in CMYK, with orange, violet, green and white options. Print widths range from 244 to 510 mm (compared with 330 to 510 mm for the previous generation).
The inks, available in UV and now led versions, are suitable for a wide range of substrates (paper, film, aluminum) from 20 to 500 µm thick.

The Tau G3 Core reaches 60 m/min and the Tau G3 Peak 80 m/min, extendable to 100 m/min.

The system incorporates two other new features: Durst ARC (Automatic Register Control), which corrects color shifts in real time and reduces waste, and MEP (Material Edge Protection), which uses optical sensors to protect printheads.
The HAWK AI option, already used on other machines from the manufacturer, which automates nozzle corrections and secures color registration, is also available

Currently in beta testing with printers

Previewed at the show, the Tau G3 has been in beta phase with selected printers since August 2025. Market launch is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026. It will complement the Tau 340 RSC E, an entry-level model, and the Tau RSCi, a top-of-the-range high-volume press.
