Lines are moving at Koenig & Bauer. The German manufacturer is radically reorganizing its range of machines for corrugated board production. A strategic decision, the fruit of a three-year analysis, has resulted in the Desenzano del Garda site in Italy becoming the reference center for the entire High Board Line portfolio, which includes the Chroma Smart, Chroma High Tech and Chroma X Pro series of flexographic presses.
Based in Würzburg, Germany, the parent company Koenig & Bauer to enter into industrial partnership with Italy's Celmacch in 2022 . This cooperation now takes on a new dimension, with the centralization of product development in Desenzano, where Koenig & Bauer Celmacch is based.
A common platform for the entire Chroma range
The p resse flexo post-printing for corrugated board Chroma X Pro will now evolve within a common platform, shared with the other models in the High Board Line range.
This strategy is designed to streamline technical development, facilitate the integration of innovations and take advantage of synergies between the various performance levels on offer: from the Chroma Smart for medium output levels, to the Chroma High Tech for more demanding segments, to the Chroma X Pro positioned at the very top end of the market.
Although technical development is moving to Italy, the historic German site retains a key operational role.
He will remain in charge of the Chroma X Pro installed base, as well as commercial relations and customer support for machines already in service. Koenig & Bauer affirms that this continuity will enable users to benefit both from the German expertise built up around this range, and from future developments now piloted from Italy.
A division of roles between Koenig & Bauer sites
The transfer of technical skills to Desenzano does not represent a break with the past, but rather a specialization of roles. On the one hand, the Italian site becomes the development and innovation center for the entire High Board Line. On the other, Würzburg retains responsibility for the installed base, guaranteeing customers stable support for their existing machines.
