Coloursource: James Cropper launches his range of tinted papers

James Cropper launches an international range of 50 colored papers designed and produced in England. The launch marks a clear commitment on the part of the British papermaker to maintain local production in the face of reduced supply on the market.

For James Cropper, color is a matter of culture, long term and fiber. Literally. The British papermaker has just announced the official launch of Coloursource, its brand dedicated to solution-dyed papers. Presented as the synthesis of half a century's expertise in tint formulation, this top-of-the-range range will now be available internationally direct from the manufacturer as well as via the Winter & Company distributor network.

Coloursource comes in 50 shades and three weights

Based in Burneside, England, James Cropper remains the only British producer of specialty color papers. Bucking the general trend to relocate or reduce references, the paper manufacturer has chosen to strengthen its industrial presence by bringing together more than 50 permanently available shades under a single name.

Available in weights of 135, 270 and 350Â g/m2 and in 640 x 970Â mm format, the Coloursource range includes both well-known references âeuros some of which have been in continuous production for decades âeuros and new shades developed with customers. 15 are basic shades and 35 are brightly colored papers. All are manufactured using proprietary dye-in-fiber technology, guaranteeing superior durability and shaping behavior to surface-printed solutions.

James Cropper Paper Mill, World Heritage Site

The Burneside production site, founded in 1845 and a Unesco World Heritage Site, concentrates all R&D, coloring and manufacturing activities for James Cropper papers. This is where exclusive formulations and custom shades are designed, in an in-house laboratory that customers can visit as part of a collaborative process.

"Since introducing the Coloursource brand earlier this year, we've seen incredible interest from around the world. As the world's first company to produce colored paper, it's heartening to see, more than a century and a half later, such enthusiasm for genuine British innovation," said a delighted Paul Barber, Managing Director of James Cropper.
