Moving from a manual to an automated binding line remains a technical challenge. With the Diamant MC 30, Müller Martini offers a machine dedicated to the entry into industrial production of hard-cover books. Equipped with top-of-the-range machine functions, the Diamant MC 30 offers short set-up times and great flexibility, according to its Swiss manufacturer.
The Diamant MC 30, which reaches a speed of 30 cycles per minute, is equipped with the same motion control technology as its big sister, the Diamant MC 60, ensuring precise operation sequences.
The book production line is also equipped with a number of other automated functions, such as paper supply, spine rounding, bookmark tape gluing and book block alignment control. For example, the thickness of the blocks is checked in the rotating rollers, ensuring that all downstream stations are correctly adjusted. This represents a considerable change for companies previously using manual processes, assures Müller Martini.
The machine also offers great product diversity: straight or curved spines, with or without headband, hardcover books can be produced with different types of paper, in a wide range of formats and grammages, stresses Muller Martini.
