French packaging manufacturer Verpack has developed a new cardboard wedge. The wedge is printed directly in offset, then automatically die-cut and glued. The group, which has sales of 62 million euros, has adjusted a component often constrained by costs and set-up times.
Verpack has chosen a single-flute substrate for offset printing. Direct printing eliminates the need for shimming, while maintaining a rendering compatible with brand requirements, particularly in the perfume, cosmetics and premium segments. The thickness of the material always offers the right resistance to ensure product hold.
The other evolution of this cardboard wedge is its transformation. After printing and die-cutting, the wedge is automatically glued in-line, delivered ready to be filled and placed in a box or folding case.
Not only does this result in a higher production rate, it also reduces the amount of work involved in shaping the wedges by the operators at the packaging stage," stresses the designer.
