Die-cutting and packaging: 4 Kongsberg innovations at Fespa 2026

At Fespa 2026, Kongsberg PCS will be presenting new functions directly at the heart of cutting tables, against a background of changing production requirements.

At the Fespa Global Print Expo 2026, Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems will be exhibiting several digital cutting table configurations, including the Kongsberg C, Kongsberg Ultimate and Kongsberg X models. New modules, tools and software features for these machines will be the focus of the new products presented at the show, which takes place in Barcelona from May 19 to 22.

Integrated inkjet marking module

Presented for the first time in Europe, the main innovation will be the Inkjet Marking Module on the Kongsberg X table. This device enables production information to be printed directly onto substrates, without any external step.

This module replaces manual marking operations or the addition of labels. It prints serial numbers, batch data, production dates and graphics. Resolution reaches 600 DPI, and the unit integrates with i-cut Production Console software.

The Inkjet Marking Module solution is designed to meet the increasing demands of European regulations for traceability and labeling in packaging. It works on corrugated board, solid board, foam board and flexo plates.

Enhanced safety and charger integration features

At Kongsberg Ultimate, Kongsberg PCS will be launching a new safety device for automated environments, the Extended Automation Safety system. This system controls operator interaction in continuous production lines.

It supports the integration of automatic loaders and stackers, structuring intervention zones and maintaining operational stability.

A new cutting tool for greater versatility

Another Fespa innovation from Kongsberg PCS is the PressCut Knife Tool. This tool now supports the high speeds of the Ultimate table. Designed for mid-face cutting of self-adhesive vinyls and films, it features a software-controlled spring-loaded pressure system.

Dynamic pressure management means you can alternate between partial and through cutting with a single tool, while maintaining the integrity of the back support. It adapts to speed variations without loss of precision.

Production flow also evolves

On the software side, Kongsberg updates its i-cut Production Console environment. New functions include file preparation and PDF metadata management.

The ai-cut plug-in for Adobe Illustrator will enable this data to be generated upstream and automatically transferred to production. An integrated file explorer will be added to facilitate access to local and networked content.
