The Gutenberg One book printing robot selected by the Élysée Palace

Gutenberg One

With its robotic arm, Gutenberg One is able to produce any book in a matter of minutes.

The Gutenberg One robot, the world's smallest book printer, specializing in short-circuit printed books, has been selected by the Élysée Palace to represent "?Fabriqué en France?" on January 18 and 19 at the Élysée Palace.

The exhibition "?Fabriqué en France?" will bring together 120 objects, ambassadors of each department in metropolitan France and overseas for two days. These objects have been selected to represent traditional French know-how, as well as to respond to the major current issues (particularly environmental).

The Gutenberg One robot is capable of making any book in a matter of minutes. Its robotic arm reproduces the gestures of the printer, folder, stapler and paper cutter, eliminating logistical costs and delays while addressing storage and out-of-stock problems.

Another mode from consommation??

For Hubert Pédurand, inventor of the robot and president of the startup Gutenberg & Co, the progressive deployment of Gutenberg One in bookshops, libraries and other book contact points is increasingly seen as an act of commitment for the ecology (short circuit, reducing our carbon footprint, eliminating the pestle) and for the economy (supporting our workers and their territories).

"?Notre ambition is to deploy 1,000 robots within 10 years and to generate 3,000 jobs in France, including a robot factory in the Nièvre region. A programme supported by Mrs Sylvie Houspic, Prefect of Nièvre and Mrs Marie-Guite Dufay, President of the Burgundy Franche-Comté Regional Council. Seduced, the President of the Region was able to bring together the regional partners, the State and the investment bank régionale?, he explains.

Hubert Pédurand presented the Gutenberg robot at the 2019 Paris Book Fair.

Supporting the book trade

For the president of the region, the Gutenberg robot will help booksellers face competition from Internet giants. "?C is a real alternative to Amazon and e-commerce platforms. "We'll hustle what we need to hustle for you aider?." she said, addressing the project leaders.

The mission of the Gutenberg One robot is to make the book permanently accessible, rematerialized on demand. Its cost is around 80,000 euros excluding tax and it is intended to equip bookstores as a priority. With a size of 2.4 m2, it can be considered as the smallest printing plant in the world.
