Koenig & Bauer is ahead of Drupa. Last month, the printing press manufacturer invited over 150 brands and customers to its showroom in Würzburg, Germany, to witness packaging production demonstrations. During the two-day Technology Days, guests discovered the company's new all-new XD Pro CI flexographic printing machine released last October, the CI Flexo flexo press and the RotaJET digital press.
For the occasion, Koenig & Bauer created the Happy Farm Box brand, which has been declined in multiple printed products.
The manufacturer presented flexographic printing on organic and biodegradable films with food-grade printing inks.
The components of the boxes and bags presented on site were digitally printed using food-grade water-based inks and primers.
Koenig & Bauer also demonstrated on-demand printing and job changes during industrial-scale production.
Guests were also able to discover the creative possibilities of digital printing using artificial intelligence in decorative printing.
Koenig & Bauer Coding was also present. The German group's industrial coding and marking subsidiary presented the possibilities of direct marking on pasta packaging with udaFORMAXX and alphaJET 5 X systems, as well as individual laser marking on metal straws and logos on apples.
Technology Days speakers included Güneri Tugcu, Senior Partner Manager, Transparency at Amazon, who promoted digital transformation, and Sandra Wagner, Vice President Digitalization at Koenig & Bauer, who presented the future of connected packaging.
