Merger of two label materials players in Europe

This operation creates the third largest European player in the field of pressure sensitive labels.

The Italian group Fedrigoni strengthens its position in self-adhesive labels with the acquisition of the Italian company Ritrama, which specialises in adhesive products. Its new portfolio will be presented at Drupa 2020. Ritrama has manufacturing plants in Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Chile and China. The project was unveiled in November 2019 (read Fedrigoni gets stronger on the label ).

Ritrama's turnover will be around 400 million euros in 2018, while Fedrigoni's will be 1.2 billion euros. Fedrigoni thus ranks among the world's largest players in the field of speciality papers for packaging and self-adhesive labels, and becomes the third largest player in Europe behind Avery Dennison and UPM Raflatac.

"Our pressure sensitive label segment, which is already showing very positive results, will now be larger, more diverse and more competitive in a market that continues to grow in all segments and geographies worldwide, said, in a statement Marco Nespolo, CEO of Fedrigoni. Ritrama has a healthy DNA, truly Italian, but international, just like us".
