The paper group is investing in the extension and modernisation of the power plant at its Wörth plant.

The first groundbreaking ceremony took place on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the Papierfabrik Palm mill in Wörth, Germany. This marks the start of the expansion and modernization of the power plant of the world's largest corrugated base paper mill.

This project, which represents an investment of ?100 million, will allow the installation of a latest-generation gas turbine developed by Siemens: this turbine will significantly reduce the paper mill's CO2 emissions while increasing its electricity production by 30%.
The energy generated by the incineration of industrial waste will be used to dry the paper sheet while generating electricity for the municipality of Wörth and its surroundings in addition to the plant's needs.
The new power plant will also be able to adapt to the load fluctuations that are increasingly present in the system by reducing or increasing its output very quickly.

And counting on growth in the packaging market, the Palm Group, which has a turnover of 1.6 billion euros, has also launched a major investment plan, 500 million euros, on another site of its Paper Division (Papierfabrik): the group's historic site in Aalen should start up in 2021, a new paper machine that will replace three older machines.
