Printers maintain business with Plexiglas

To cope with the health crisis and the drop in business, some printers are replacing the production of printed matter with that of protective media.

Lechat Tower Printing has been producing protective media for a week

In this period of unprecedented containment in France and around the world, some companies are reinventing themselves. This is the case of the printing company Lechat, based in Tours, which has been producing since last week Plexiglas protective supports for retailers in contact with the public, reports the newspaper The New Republic .

Philippe Lefeuvre, the head of the company, explains on a daily basis that the idea came to him while talking to his fellow printers. Usually, the printing company uses Plexiglas plates to make signs, cut-out letters or for photographic printing," he says. Of course, this new activity is not enough to compensate for the drop in orders, and the printer is currently running with three employees instead of 15.

In the Cotentin region, ICL Graphic also produces countertops protection

The same approach was taken at Valognes in the Cotentin region for the ICL Graphic printing works. The offset and digital printer has momentarily converted to the manufacture of shop counter protection, explains La Presse de la Manche . The company, which has a stock of Plexiglas sheets, sells this equipment to pharmacies, but also to laboratories, butcher's shops and bakeries, the newspaper says.

Help from the region for commerces??

The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region has decided to offer aid to pharmacies to the tune of 500 euros to help them equip themselves with Plexiglas protective supports. It remains to be seen whether this approach will be proposed in other regions.
