Christo won't be packing up the Arc de Triomphe in the fall..
It's only a rain check. The packaging of the Arc de Triomphe Place de l'Étoile in Paris by the artist Christo has been postponed for a year. This spectacular artistic event, which was to have taken place in September, will finally take place in October 2021. The packaging of the Arc de Triomphe should require 25?000 square metres of recyclable blue-silver fabric and 7?000 metres of red rope.
Extension of the Comic Book Year
Due to the health crisis, the Ministry of Culture announced the extension of the Year of the Comic Strip until June 30, 2021. Indeed, nearly 350 events related to the 9 e art that could not and will not be held, since the beginning of March and until September 2020. This extension should allow all the events initially planned to see the light of day.
The situation on the labour market
In the current context of the health crisis, the DARES publishes weekly figures on the labour market situation in France. As of 5 May, 1.2 million applications for partial activity were registered. These requests concern 998?000 companies and 12.1 million employees (compared with 821?000 companies and 10.2 million employees on 21 April). 53% of employees subject to a request for partial activity since 1 March work in companies with fewer than 50 employees.
Be part of the jury for the France Culture Student Comics Prize
Created by France Culture during the confinement period, the Student Comics Prize rewards a comic strip by an emerging author (with no more than 3 comics already published), published between August 2019 and June 2020 in French language. Students who wish to join the jury for the first edition must be enrolled in a higher education institution and send a review of the comic book of their choice (comic book in digital version) before 16 May.
