Faced with the disappearance of the fluorescent posters, a printer decides to occupy the space

This year, the traditional fluorescent posters announcing bals musettes and other sausage festivals were sadly absent from the French landscape... Until a printer in the Lot region decided to roll up its sleeves!

"Intermittent is looking for a show or a tiger to ride", "All summer long fly nights", "Paris will always be Cajarc", "Slow motion contest one meter away", these are the kind of slogans that the inhabitants or tourists visiting the Lot this summer could discover on the village billboards.

Behind these posters hides a printer who was sorry not to find anywhere this year the traditional colourful posters announcing village festivals, balls, musette balls or sausage nights, events that were mostly cancelled due to the health crisis.

"?Il didn't have anything on the billboards this year when normally the campaign in the summer is the land of fluo?" explains Camille Escoubet who works at the Trace printing plant in Concots.

The printer, who had already done this as a joke a few years ago, was this time inspired by the theme of Covid and health measures. The quality of the work was not in the printing technique, since the posters were printed on a simple photocopier, but in the design of blagues?! A spirit of derision claimed by the association.

The posters were deployed in small quantities - because it was a voluntary operation - in about 15 villages. But in view of the success and the flood of requests, the printing company now offers them at free prices in its workshop and is considering selling them online at a low price as a complement to other printed products.

An associative and artisanal printing house

Located in the heart of the Lot department (South-West), the Imprimerie associative Trace was founded in 2004 by typographer Gérard Lefèvre. In 2010, he was joined by his son Camille Escoubet and a bunch of friends who, in addition to typography, developed silkscreen printing, risography and graphic design. The printing company is associated with an alternative comic book publishing house, Super Loto Editions, created in 2011.
