At the annual general meeting of Pro Carton in Krakow, the members of the two industry associations Pro Carton and Cepi Cartonboard expressed their intention to unite into one "strong association" under the name of Pro Carton. And the cardboard trade associations now have the same president, Michele Bianchi.
The mission of these two European associations is to promote the use of cardboard and paperboard as an economically and ecologically balanced packaging medium to brands, retailers, designers, media and politicians.
The main objective of this rapprochement, which could materialize in 2023 after consultation, would be to gain in efficiency and voice of representation through new lines of work on communications and public affairs.
"We are convinced that the new organization will be the right platform for the future of the European board and solid board industry. With a stronger commitment from members, cooperation across industry borders and closer cooperation with ECMA (European Carton Markers Association, NDLR) we are convinced that our union will support the sustainable growth of our industry commented Michele Bianchi, CEO of the Italian paper group RDM, president of CEPI Cartonboard since 2020 and newly appointed president of Pro Carton.
In addition to the appointment of Michele Bianchi as president of the association, the general assembly of Pro Carton has resulted in other changes in positions.
Horst Bittermann, who is giving up his position to Michele Bianchi, becomes General Manager of Pro Carton and is in charge of a consultation and reorganization process.
