Since 2004, the association has been dedicated to the opening of a Conservatory and Workshop of Printing and Graphic Arts in Strasbourg.

The Espace Européen Gutenberg calls on graphic arts associations and professionals to join its ranks. Since 2004, the association has been dedicated to the opening of a Conservatory and Workshop of Printing and Graphic Arts in Strasbourg. Its aim is to create a centre around printing and the graphic arts, but also to safeguard a heritage, explains Marielle de Vaulx, a member of the Espace Gutenberg administration committee.

"?C' is an atypical project in its structuring which must federate the associative and professional sphere. With a museum and heritage centre, an entrepreneurial centre to accommodate structures that revolve around these professions (companies, workshops, agencies, etc.) and enable them to share their skills and issues, and a centre dedicated to innovation and new technologies.?»

By bringing together the various players in the graphic arts, this future centre aims to protect and transmit heritage, but also to reflect on the evolution and future of the sector. Events such as conferences, demonstrations of machines or processes, should in particular make it possible to create emulsion. Among the various projects, filmed portraits of printers will give the floor to professionals.

Printers' Day every two years

The association has recently restructured itself with the development of an administrative committee and the recruitment of a development and coordination officer who structures the different actions.

Supported by the city, the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, and the Drac, the Espace Gutenberg also organises events for the general public, such as the Printers' Festival every two years, which honours the book and printing trades. In addition to maintaining a tradition and highlighting the printed word, these events help to build up a professional network and encourage exchanges.

"?Nous want to federate all the people who gravitate around the professions of the graphic industries and who are interested in this project. Printers who wish to participate can contact the association so that we can include them in the development of this future centre?" says Marielle de Vaulx. Hampered by the coronavirus crisis, the association counts among its next steps the opening of a showcase.
