Lecta reduces its electricity bill for lighting by 60%

It wants to optimise the overall energy consumption of its Spanish plants.

Spanish papermaker Lecta has modified the lighting in three of its seven plants. All the conventional lighting in the Zaragoza, Sant Joan les Fonts and Motril plants, all three located in Spain, has been replaced by LED lighting.

Thanks to this switch to LED lights, the group specialising in the production of speciality papers, wood-free coated paper and backing paper has managed to reduce its energy consumption linked to lighting by more than 60%. In addition, the papermaker has considerably reduced maintenance.

This modification, which requires an audit for each plant, is the first step in a more global energy plan whose objective is to optimise the energy management of the five plants that Lecta operates in Spain.

And with this change in lighting, the group is anticipating the new European standard already implemented in some Spanish autonomous communities.
