Record attendance for Paris Packaging Week 2025

Paris Packaging Week 2025, which took place on January 28 and 29 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, broke its attendance record with 12,588 visitors, up 27% on the previous edition. The event brought together over 880 exhibitors and 17,969 industry professionals, confirming its key role in luxury, beverage, beauty and aerosol packaging.

The program included 129 conferences led by 190 experts, debates on sustainability and innovation, and the Innovation Awards recognizing major advances in the sector. The integration of the Pentawards Festival attracted a wider audience, highlighting design and marketing.

Buhrs to unveil new packaging solution at Hunkeler Innovationdays 2025

Dutch manufacturer of shipping and order processing systems Buhrs will be presenting a brand new technology at Hunkeler Innovationdays from February 24 to 27, 2025 in Lucerne, Switzerland (Hall 1, Stand B6).

General Manager Herco Koeling emphasizes: "We'll be presenting a brand new packaging solution. I can't say too much about it yet. We'd like to present it to visitors and customers at the Hunkeler Days. Together with the international visitors, we'd like to discuss the benefits of this new concept and examine the various business possibilities and opportunities together."

Lecta finances a charity book dedicated to Gallic gastronomy

Lecta contributed to the production of the book Asterix The 40 Banquets: dining with great Gaulish chefs! published by Éditions Albert René, with proceeds going to Restos du C?ur. The book combines the iconic world of Asterix with haute gastronomy, with 40 recipes created by renowned chefs such as Anne-Sophie Pic, Cyril Lignac and Pierre Gagnaire.

For every copy sold, five meals will be distributed to the most needy. Lecta has lent its support by supplying the paper used to print the book. An initiative which illustrates the potential of collaboration between companies and associations in the fight against precariousness.

Butterfly Packaging acquires Adrène

Butterfly Packaging (sales of ?26 million and 100 employees) continues its expansion with the acquisition of Adrène, specialized in eco-packaging and industrial wedging.
Based in Gondreville, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Adrène, headed by Caroline Josset, develops recyclable and sustainable solutions for industry and e-commerce.
This integration strengthens the offering of the Butterfly Packaging group, which comprises three sites in France (Toul'embal, in Toul, Meurthe-et-Moselle, and Cabapack in Clamart, Hauts-de-Seine, and Illiers-Combray, Eure-et-Loir) and specializes in packaging for logistics, products for e-commerce, bags and boxes for retail and catering, signage and promotional items, and supplies for the automotive industry.

"Adrène is an innovative player in the packaging world, developing solutions that enable our customers to reduce their social and environmental impact." explains François Porcheron-Lucas, Group CEO, in a press release.

Among its wide range of packaging products, Butterfly Packaging is particularly interested in its flagship product, the 100% paper origami Particul'A, which provides plastic-free cushioning.

Epson expands its ColorWorks range with dye-based inks

Epson announces the integration of UltraChrome DYL dye-based inks in its new ColorWorks CW-D6000 color-on-demand label printer. Designed to improve color reproduction on glossy substrates, these inks offer enhanced rub resistance and deeper blacks.

With this new release, Epson completes its pigment ink offering and expands the options available for the packaging, retail and graphic applications sectors. The CW-D6000 offers a resolution of 1200 x 1200 DPI and a print speed of 119 mm/s, with extended compatibility with all major operating systems.

Lecta strengthens its flexible packaging offering with Metalvac GP PFAS-Free

Spanish papermaker Lecta expands its range of metallized papers with Metalvac GP PFAS-Free, a PFAS-free barrier paper designed for food packaging. With protection against vegetable and mineral oils, this recyclable material is presented as an alternative to traditional metallized films and greaseproof papers. Compliant with CEPI V2 and ATICELCA standards, it meets environmental and industrial requirements.

Papeteries de Condat: ex-employees challenge dismissal in industrial tribunal

One year after the social plan at papeteries de Condat in Le Lardin-Saint-Lazare, Dordogne 15 of the 105 former employees made redundant in 2023 have appealed to the Périgueux industrial tribunal to contest their dismissal. At the conciliation hearing on February 11, 2025, they are hoping to obtain explanations from their former employer, the Lecta group, says France Bleu . In particular, they denounce arbitrary selection and possible indirect discrimination linked to their seniority and personal situation. If no agreement is reached, proceedings will continue before the administrative court, with possible claims for compensation.

CO2 emissions halved at Stora Enso

Finnish-Swedish paper manufacturer Stora Enso with sales of 9 billion has announced a 53% drop in its carbon dioxide (CO?) emissions from direct sources (Scope 1) and energy consumption (Scope 2) by the end of 2024, exceeding its initial target of 50% set for 2030 compared with 2019. This reduction would result from energy improvements, fuel switching and site closures. The Group is now aiming to maintain this level and pursue its decarbonization efforts, notably on indirect emissions from its value chain (Scope 3).
