Multisigne printing replaces PVC with a new cardboard support

Since one month, Multisigne has launched a project to replace plastic printing supports by Dispa, a new fully recyclable paper support.

"I've seen a lot of products that claim to be environmentally friendly... But, this time when 3A Composites presented us with the Dispa, we were immediately excited, says Emily Pornet, general manager of the large format printing company Multisigne. We finally have a product that is truly recyclable, with properties that are close to PVC! For once, there is a real interest in this product."

Located in Joué-lès-Tours in the Indre-et-Loire region, the 47-person digital and screen printing plant is now offering, as soon as possible, this new large-format medium made entirely of paper and produced in Germany by 3A Composites.

Dispa, a recyclable, lighter and less expensive printing medium

"While it does not replace PVC for long-term outdoor printing, Dispa is ideal for all short-term indoor and outdoor communication media. It even replaces Akilux. It is fully recyclable in the traditional paper and cardboard waste cycle. It is also lighter and more rigid than PVC, it offers a better flatness of the supports, in particular suspended and for the large formats. And moreover, it is less expensive than PVC! Both in material cost, waste reprocessing and shipping costs!"

Multisigne wants to promote it in order to reduce the amount of plastic waste from printing. "This is an additional action that is part of our CSR approach."

The support is distributed in France by several brands, but the Touraine printing house has entered into a partnership with the manufacturer, allowing it to be constantly supplied and to offer even more attractive prices to its customers.

A simmering demand

"For the past month, since we work a lot with resellers, we've been training our customers on this new product. We've been going to them, sending them samples, products..." says the company director.

She continues: "And we're starting to get requests. We even feel a real craze. Customers are very keen on the new eco-friendly products, with some brands now even refusing to work on non-recyclable media. We also feel that customers appreciate participating with us in this project to decrease plastic."
