Professionals attending the recently opened Fespa in Berlin, Germany, can discover the SC-S8100 on the Epson stand, a new 64-inch eco-solvent printer that follows in the footsteps of the SC-S7100 and SC-S9100 recently announced. These new models follow on from the SC-S60600/L, bringing technical advances in productivity, reliability and quality for signage applications.
Presented as an intermediate six-color solution, the SC-S8100 is based on UltraChrome GS3 ecosolvent ink, incorporating cyan, magenta, yellow, black as well as light cyan (Cl) and light magenta (Ml). This configuration is designed to improve rendering on gradients and solids, while limiting ink consumption thanks to controlled deposition.
Productivity increased by 30%
The technological heart of the SC-S8100 (and of the entire new range) lies in its new PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead, which is wider than that of its predecessor.
The total number of nozzles has risen from 7,200 to 9,600, contributing to an increase in output of up to 30%, according to Epson, compared with the SC-S60600, a particularly significant gain for continuous production jobs on vinyl, tarpaulin or coated paper.
Epson has also equipped the machine with a hot-swap function, enabling a cartridge to be changed during the print run without interrupting the process. Consumables are available in 800-ml or 1,500-ml bags, depending on production requirements.
Designed for everyday use
With a height of 1,021 mm, more than 30 cm lower than its predecessor, the SC-S8100 facilitates integration into constrained production environments. The addition of a transparent cover on the carriage allows visual monitoring of the printing process, while the control interface is based on a 4.3" touch screen.
The automatic nozzle verification system (NVT) is retained, with preventive cleaning and real-time correction of clogged nozzles. Added to this is a substrate cleaning device designed to limit fiber and dust deposits.
Remote connectivity and management via Epson Cloud Solution PORT
Like recent S series models, the SC-S8100 is compatible with the Epson Cloud Solution PORT platform. This portal enables remote monitoring of printer status, processed volumes and maintenance alerts. A feature that fits in with the needs of multi-site workshops or centralized supervision.
