Epson launches the SureColor S7100 large-format signage printer, replacing the SC-S40600. This new 4-color eco-solvent model from 300 to 1626 mm wide (64 inches) incorporates technical adjustments to improve print process stability, ink management and consistency of results.
SureColor S7100 increases productivity by 23.8
The major new feature of the SureColor S7100 is its improved PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead. With its increased height and an increase in the number of nozzles from 360 to 400, it enables faster printing and wider print widths in a single pass.
Compared with the SC-S40600, the SureColor S7100 boasts a 23.8% increase in productivity in standard mode (6-pass vinyl).
Automated corrections and thermal control of the printer
The other major new feature of Epson's printer is the Nozzle Verification Tool (NVT). It enables real-time monitoring of any obstructions and alerts users in the event of a problem.
What's more, a thermal sensor integrated into the carriage adjusts the ink and nozzle temperatures to minimize color deviations over long print runs. This automatic regulation avoids tint variations due to media heating cycles.
A text sharpening module has also been integrated, to improve the definition of small characters and white text, a particularly useful capability for the production of signage containing fine typographic elements.
91% reduction in Epson ink cartridge waste
Finally, ink management has been rethought with the introduction of 800-ml packs, replacing the 700-ml cartridges previously used. This change reduces the frequency of replacement while cutting the amount of plastic waste generated by 91%, and lightening the weight of consumables by 84%.
The formulation of UltraChrome GS3 inks has been retained, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of substrates, including vinyl, tarpaulins and coated textiles.
