Canon expands its large-format Colorado range with a version dedicated to road signage. Presented as a complete solution, the Colorado M-Traffic combines hardware, specific UVgel inks and a validated software environment for the production of regulated and non-regulated signs.
The Colorado M-Traffic is a 1.60 m wide roll printer. In traffic-signage mode, speed reaches 15.3 m 2 /h on a 122-cm web. Two 50-meter-long rolls can be printed per station, and without a suitable environment, a third 50-meter roll can be produced unattended overnight.
The roll-to-roll printer uses Canon UVgel 540-R CMYK inks. According to Canon, this ink set reproduces all seven standardized colors in a controlled flow.
UVgel ink technology is based on low-temperature polymerization. According to Canon, it enables printing with high lightfastness and immediate lamination after printing. The process generates no ozone, VOCs or hazardous air pollutants.
The Colorado M-Traffic is compatible with 3M reflective media dedicated to signage. The combination of printer, UVgel 540-R inks and 3M media is validated by 3M and backed by the 3M MCS warranty for road signage.
The workflow is based on Sai FlexiComplete 3M Traffic Edition software. This configuration is designed to ensure colorimetric reproducibility and job traceability.
For Géraldine Gaspard, DP&S Marketing Manager for Canon France, "the arrival on the market of the Colorado M-Traffic provides sign manufacturers with a unique, easy-to-use workflow offering proven technological advantages. Thanks to its compatibility with 3M and Sai FlexiComplete 3M Traffic Edition software, this printer enables sign manufacturers in the EMEA region to confidently deliver high-quality, cost-effective, durable and high-performance products that help improve the visibility of traffic signs."
