The renovation of the horseshoe-shaped staircase of the Château de Fontainebleau gave rise to a competition with the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris.

Proposed to students and young graduates of the school, the call for entries consisted in representing the staircase, its renovation and the historical periods linked to the Bellifontaine monument. The winning project, printed on a micro-perforated Mesh tarp 27 m long x 7 m high, covers the scaffolding during the stone cleaning work carried out by Kärcher. The fresco is visible until spring 2022.

A harmonious integration in trompe l'oeil

Successfully meeting all the selection criteria, it is the proposal of Domitille Siergé the winner of the competition, a student in her 5th and final year, was selected from among the 27 entries presented to the jury. The finesse of her drawing, the balance of her composition and the touch of humor that she distilled with relevance were decisive in her success.

" I had to cut down on a lot of the headdresses and hats among the queens and kings, if I wanted to fit them all in this historical class photo "says Domitille Siergé.

The young artist confides that she studied and then adapted the historical context from the viewer's point of view, so that her proposal could be understood by a wide audience, both adults and children.

A perfectly mastered installation

Initially created in A4 format, the visual was reworked on the software Procreate for 1:1 scaling without loss of quality at enlargement.

The company Europlast Multiplast Sepelco (Stains, 93) realized this very large format printing on a machine Vutek uV Led inkjet, with a web width of 5 m. Jorge Pinto, technical sales representative in charge of coordination at Multiplast, followed the project and appreciated the excellent quality of the relationship between the various parties involved:

" Everything went well, everyone was attentive to each other's requirements, to ensure a rapid and serene execution. I wish it could happen like this every time! "

For a more aesthetic attachment, the company added secondary fasteners to the back of the tarp allowing an invisible connection between the different sides.
