Fujifilm creates a new large format reference

The manufacturer Fujifilm unveils its new strategy for its Acuity range of large format printers.

Fujifilm announced in June a breakthrough in its large-format inkjet strategy with a new line of printers designed from the ground up around the concept of a "new standard."

"The market needed something fundamentally new

Launched in 2007, the Acuity range of large format printers has been a great success with over 1,800 installations worldwide. But as David Burton, Fujifilm WFIJ HQ sales manager and Fujifilm WFIJ EMEA marketing director, points out, the large format market has changed dramatically since the range was introduced.

"We realized three years ago that the market had reached a real turning point. A point where a very similar solution with only minor improvements was no longer sufficient. The market needed something fundamentally new, explains David Burton.

The manufacturer conducted three years of market research and development. From this research process, four design criteria emerged: quality, added value, performance and usability. From printheads to user interface, lamps, anti-static control and vacuum solutions, every part and component was selected with these four criteria in mind, Fujifilm explains.

The first two printers of this new range

The first two printers aligned with this new reference are the Acuity Ultra R2, which is a completely redesigned and much improved version of the Acuity Ultra, and the Acuity Prime, which is a new mid-range table offering, according to its manufacturer, unparalleled user-friendliness and return on investment.

Both of these new printers, which we will cover in Graphiline shortly, are of course powered by Fujifilm's renowned UV inkjet ink, manufactured in the UK at its award-winning facility.
