For or against the yes advertisement in the mailboxes, the Senate has decided

Unlike the stop ad, the yes ad device prohibits the distribution of unaddressed printed advertising in mailboxes, unless expressly authorized on the mailbox.

There will be no "yes advertising" on mailboxes. The majority of the Senate chose to reject this proposal, preferring to continue the "stop ad" experiment.

Since 1 January er as of January 1, 2021, the deposit of unsolicited advertising material in mailboxes is prohibited. Companies that do not respect this provision are liable to a fine of 1500 euros, or even 3000 euros in the event of a repeat offence.

In order not to receive printed advertising in the mailbox, it is now sufficient to affix a "stop ad" sticker on the mailbox to signify one's refusal. Conversely, if the "yes ad" system had been adopted, it would have been automatically forbidden to distribute unaddressed advertising material in the mailboxes, except with an authorization expressly posted on them.

Following the Senate's decision, Article 9 of the "Climate and Resilience" bill (relating to the fight against climate change) - which provided for an experimentation of the "yes pub" in local authorities for a period of three years - has been rewritten, preferring "to evaluate the strengthening of penalties for non-compliance with the "stop pub", provided by the anti-waste law", reports Public Senate .

According to the latest figures published by Idep in March 2021 in its Economic letter the production of unaddressed advertising prints has fallen by 18% and invoicing by 20% in 2020 compared to 2019. Figures to be relativized since in the face of the health crisis, the overall production of printed matter that fell by 19.1% in 2020.
