Progroup announces a world record in corrugated board

PW12 Corrugated Sheet Plant in Ellesmere Port.

The record-holding site manufactures more than 200,000 tons of corrugated board per year.

The German paper and packaging manufacturer Progroup, Europe's leading producer of corrugated sheetboards, announced in mid-July that it had achieved a world record. At its PW12 corrugated sheet feeder plant in Ellesmere Port, Great Britain, the group produced 572,064 m in eight hours on a BHS Corrugated machine with a web width of 3.35 m at 400 m/min. This speed was made possible by the highly automated control of the entire plant, the company explains.

Philipp Kosloh, Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Executive Board of Progroup, commented:

"Thanks to its state-of-the-art machine, the team has achieved an outstanding performance. This world record is not only an expression of Progroup's strategy to regularly invest in sustainable, state-of-the-art technology, but also a testimony to the good cooperation between the PW12 colleagues. We remain true to our motto "ONE Group. One Goal. One Team."

With a web width of 3.35 meters, the Ellesmere Port corrugated sheetboard plant can produce over 200,000 tons of corrugated board per year.

With 1,455 employees, the company, which is based in Douvrin (Pas-de-Calais) in France, generated sales of 881 million euros in 2020. The group has several growth projects in Europe. Between 2022 and 2024, four other corrugated sheet plants will be commissioned

"The corrugated market is booming. The trend is not only towards sustainable packaging materials: purchasing behavior has also changed and is increasingly shifting towards online shopping platforms." explains Jürgen Heindl, founder and CEO of Progroup.
