BHS Corrugated and Agfa: strategic agreement to optimize corrugated inkjet printing

Agfa will supply the print engines for the BHS Jetliner and become a certified ink supplier for these single-pass inkjet systems.

The corrugated printing industry continues to evolve towards more agile and responsive solutions, meeting the demands of the packaging market. Germany's BHS Corrugated, which specializes in corrugated production lines and single-pass inkjet printing systems, has joined forces with Belgium's Agfa to develop its BHS Jetliner range of presses. The agreement includes Agfa's exclusive supply of print engines for the BHS Jetliner Xceed and BHS Jetliner Monochrome, as well as the supply of inks certified by BHS Corrugated.

The BHS Jetliner Xceed is a 2,800 mm-wide CMYK press for pre-printed corrugated board that reaches speeds of 300 m/min.
The BHS Jetliner Monochrome, also 2,800 mm wide, integrates directly into the corrugator as a single-pass black inkjet system. It reaches speeds of 400 m/min.

According to both groups, "the installation and ramp-up of the BHS Jetliner Monochrome, a first of its kind, are in full swing" . The BHS Jetliner Xceed is expected on the market by the third quarter of this year.

"The integration of Agfa's inkjet technology is in line with our Box Plant strategy (which aims to offer a fully digital, intelligent and sustainable cardboard manufacturing plant, Editor's note) and reinforces our position as a leading innovator in the corrugated board industry" says Helmut Kraus, Head of Digital Sales and Logistics at BHS Corrugated.
