Italian Lucart to invest 80 million euros in the Vosges

This includes three new converting lines, which will increase the processing capacity for recycled paper.

Lucart has announced an 80 million euro investment plan for its Laval-sur-Vologne plant in the Vosges region. The Italian group, which manufactures hygiene products from paper and cardboard food cartons, explains that it has chosen to strengthen its production capacity at its French site because it occupies a central position to serve the European markets as closely as possible.

To produce its product lines, the plant recovers about 70âeuros000 tons of paper and about 15âeuros000 tons of food cartons per year. Recyclable, the food carton is composed of 75% cardboard on average. With the increase of its production capacity, the plant expects an additional 40âeuros000 tons of recycled paper per year.

A new paper machine is expected to be operational by 2024. It will be supplied by a new pulp preparation center, capable of processing pre- and post-consumer recycled paper.

The company is also planning three new converting lines, which will increase the capacity for converting recycled paper. In total, the plant will be able to produce approximately 100,000 tons of paper per year.

The investment plan includes the construction of a new logistics center in the Vosges and the establishment of a biomass plant producing heat from biomass from the forest areas adjacent to its plant. The plant aims to reduce its CO2 emissions by 12,000 tons per year.

Lucart's sales in France are around 100 million euros per year, an amount that has doubled since the plant was set up in 2008, with 300 employees in 2020, compared to 228 at the opening.
