Portrait / On the Finistère point, Plomb noir perpetuates the typographic know-how

In his workshop located in Landéda in Brittany, Vincent Puricelli realizes his works on traditional typographic presses.

After being immersed in the world of graphic arts - his mother was an artist and his father an importer and builder of printing machines - Vincent Puricelli trained in the techniques of drawing reproduction such as engraving, etching, and screen printing at the Beaux-arts d'Annecy. It is at the end of the school that he decides to launch his typographic workshop in Brittany, a region "euros where it is good to livereeuros".

In his 50 m2 workshop, located at the tip of Finistère in Landéda, the printer produces his work on traditional letterpresses, including an Eifelbis platen press dating from 1964, a gilding press, an Ofmi press, a test press, and a cutter.

What interests Vincent Puricelli in particular in letterpress printing is the possibility of playing with the material. "eurosThe typography is what seems to me to bring the most beautiful result in terms of printing and volumeeuros" he explains.

Plomb Noir's clients include a publisher for whom he produces letterpress covers. Being also a bookbinder, Vincent Puricelli can realize complete books in small series.

Its clientele also includes restaurants and hotels for which it produces wine cards, gift cards, welcome kits, business cards, and other creations that include gilding and embossing. Plomb Noir also does subcontract work for a local printer.

Soon a space totally dedicated to bookbinding and finishing

Vincent Puricelli launched his workshop in October 2019, just a few months before the coronavirus crisis. During the initial confinements, one of the ways he made a name for himself was through small actions, such as letterpress printing (and distribution) of travel certificates.

Since taking over the business, Vincent Puricelli has seen a rapid increase in demand. In the near future, he plans to expand to have a space totally dedicated to binding and finishing.
