Xeikon presses are also entitled to their gold and silver inks. The Belgian manufacturer belonging to the X-Rite group launches two dry toners with metallic effect for its range of digital label presses Cheetah 2.0.
These toners can be used in place of foil stamping, flexography or metallic printing. "These traditional techniques involve high implementation costs due to material and tooling costs and generate significant amounts of waste to achieve the desired quality. Applying metallic color via digital printing eliminates these costs, avoids secondary processes and opens up new opportunities for value-added label design, such as personalization." says the manufacturer.
These gold and silver toners scored 6-8 on the Flop Index, which quantifies the change in luminance of a metallic hue when viewed from multiple angles.
The two metallic colors are part of the fifth color group of the Xeikon Cheetah 2.0 presses. This range of printing machines includes four label presses - CX 30, CX 50, CX 300 and CX 500 - of 317 and 508 mm width.
The metallic toners will be available starting in May for all Cheetah 2.0 users.
