Swedish label manufacturer UPM Raflatac and industrial labelling and identification solutions provider Logopak announce their collaboration to develop a linerless label printing and application solution.
"We are committed to taking linerless labeling to new heights to drive sustainability and efficiency. By joining forces with Logopak, we can accelerate innovations and deliver first-class solutions, especially in the area of automated labeling." says Ville Pollari, Head of UPM Raflatac's EMEIA laminated paper business.
The solution is to combine the strengths of Germany's Logomatic 410 Linerless labelling technology and UPM Raflatac's Opticut direct thermal linerless labelling material, which will be launched in 2021. The Logomatic cuts the labels, which are coated with adhesives, and applies them to the package.
In addition to eliminating liner waste, linerless labeling significantly increases label roll capacity by 50%, reducing the CO2 footprint in production and logistics, Logopak points out.
Initially, this collaboration will be aimed at the automated labeling of secondary packaging.
