With the creation of this joint venture, the two players in the cardboard packaging industry complete their geographical position.

Belgian cardboard manufacturer Van Genechten Packaging (VGP) and the British group CartonCare announce the creation of a joint venture, specializing in printing and packaging.

This joint venture, of which the two founders are equal partners, is composed of the three CartonCare sites, dedicated to the design and manufacture of printed paper-based packaging: two are in Northern Ireland, CartonCare and MSO Cleland, specialized in folding cartons and labels for the food, pharmaceutical and high-end markets, and the third is in England, Pendragon Presentation Packaging, focused on the design and production of hand-finished luxury packaging (rigid presentation boxes, bags, envelopes...). The turnover of these three companies amounts to 30 million euros.

VGP has 12 folding carton sites (including two in France, in Angoulême in the Charente and in Meyzieu in the Rhône), an extrusion site and a design and production center for rigid boxes. The group employs more than 1,500 people in nine countries and has a turnover of 400 million euros.

Frank Ohle, CEO of the Van Genechten Packaging Group, explains in a statement: "In addition to sharing the same DNA, our two companies are active in common market segments. As CartonCare Group's position in the UK market complements that of Van Genechten Packaging, this strategic transaction opens up opportunities to increase our design and production capabilities and allows us to expand our European presence, creating even greater value for our customers."

The name of this new joint venture has not been disclosed.
