The offset blanket brands of Italy's Trelleborg, including Vulcan and Rollin, are owned by the German Continental Group.

German automotive supplier Continental has acquired Trelleborg Printing Solutions, the printing business of Swedish group Trelleborg. With the deal announced in September 2021, the division's eight sites - in France, Slovenia, the United States, Brazil, Japan, China and two in Italy - and 600 employees will join the 200,000-employee group known to the general public for its tires.

Based in Lodi Vecchio, Italy, Trelleborg's printing business focuses primarily on printing blankets for sheetfed and web offset printing with the Vulcan, Rollin, Printec and Sava brands and Axcyl flexographic sleeves. It has sales of SEK 1,340 million in 2022.

Continental's printing business employs around 800 people at two sites in Germany and one in China, which mainly manufacture blankets for sheetfed and web offset printing under the Conti-Air and Phoenix Xtra Blankets brands, flexographic sleeves with Conti Laserline, and elastomer-coated materials for various applications in other sectors.

"The product portfolios of both companies complement each other and are both characterized by high brand awareness." says Continental. "This strategic step expands the technology company's range of surface solutions in printing technology while strengthening its business with industrial customers."

Trelleborg Printing Solutions is integrated into Continental's ContiTech business area.
