Hans Sohlström, new CEO of Stora Enso

Hans Sohlström, who has many years' experience in the forestry industry, should enable Stora Enso to achieve its long-term financial objectives, according to the Group's Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors of Stora Enso Oyj, listed on the Helsinki and Stockholm stock exchanges, has appointed Hans Sohlström as President and CEO of Stora Enso. The new CEO took office on September 18.
Hans Sohlström replaces Annica Bresky, who has been at the helm of the 21,000-employee forestry and packaging group for four years, when she joins Ørsted, one of Denmark's leading energy companies.

Hans Sohlström, 58, who was previously a member of Stora Enso's Board of Directors, has many years' experience in corporate management and in the forestry and renewable materials sectors.
Until the end of 2022, he headed the Finnish fiber-based materials group Ahlstrom. He had also previously held several management positions at UPM-Kymmene, which manufactures forestry, biochemical, energy and paper products.

"Hans Sohlström has demonstrated strong business acumen and leadership skills in his previous roles. He has extensive experience in the forestry industry and has acquired a solid knowledge of Stora Enso after serving for more than two years on its Board of Directors." said Kari Jordan, Chairman of the Board of Stora Enso.

In the "today's difficult market" hans Sohlström is " the ideal person" to enable the Group to achieve its long-term financial objectives, added the President.
