Koenig & Bauer: Ralf Sammeck prepares his succession

Joining Koenig & Bauer in 2000 as Sales Director, Ralf Sammeck quickly rose through the ranks to become CEO of the North American subsidiary in 2002. Appointed to the Board of Directors in 2007, he played a key role in the development of the Sheetfed segment and, as CDO since 2020, has accompanied the company's digital transition. After a 25-year career with the company, he will retire in June 2025, leaving a lasting mark on the graphic arts industry. Markus Weiss, appointed as his successor, will assume his new role on February 1, 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.

Stéphane Vinand appointed head of Stratus Décomatic

Stéphane Vinand has been appointed manager of the Stratus Décomatic site in La Verpillière (Isère), which will become part of the Stratus Packaging Group in February 2023. With 150 employees and sales of 17 million euros, this site stands out for its expertise in the manufacture of stretch sleeves, security pouches and booklet labels. A trained engineer and Lean management specialist, Stéphane Vinand puts people at the heart of performance, promoting innovation, empowerment and skills development.

Max Lévêque joins Imprim'Eclair to shape the future of the family printing business

Imprim'Eclair, a printer specializing in labels and packaging for wine and Champagne, announces the arrival of Max Lévêque at the company. With an immersive apprenticeship in all printing trades (workshop, production, sales), Max is preparing to take over the management in a few years' time. Founded in 1978 in the heart of the Champagne region, Imprim'Eclair produces 600,000 labels daily without subcontracting, combining modern (offset, flexo, digital) and traditional techniques, with a variety of finishes. Awarded the Imprim'Vert label in 2005 and ISO 14001 certification in 2021, the company is now a major player in the label and folding carton sector, operating from a single site.

German printing companies face skills shortage

German printing and media companies continue to face a shortage of skilled workers, according to a national survey by the Bundesverband Druck und Medien (BVDM). Despite a slight increase in the number of training places on offer, finding suitable apprentices and professionals remains a challenge. Companies point to two main obstacles: a decline in young people's interest in training and a high proportion (58%) of applicants deemed unsuitable. While 90% of positions for digital and print media designers have been filled, other professions, such as press driver or prepress manager, are encountering greater difficulties, with only a quarter of positions filled. Employee retirement remains the main cause of vacancies. To remedy this, companies are focusing on qualification, training and integration of new recruits, but the lack of applicants continues to weigh heavily on the sector.
