Xeikon cuts jobs to secure its future

In order to cope with the consequences of health measures linked to the coronavirus, inflation and changing consumer behavior, Xeikon is launching collective redundancy proceedings, which will mainly affect Belgian employees.

Xeikon aims to secure its future by reorganizing its activities. At an extraordinary works council meeting, the Lierre, Belgium-based manufacturer of digital presses announced its intention to modify its activities "in order to adapt to today's reality" this will result in a reduction of 85 employees, including 50 in Belgium. The information and consultation phase was launched on October 27 under the Renault law (Belgian law on collective redundancies).

The group, which employs 400 people worldwide, is looking to consolidate sales and service departments and organize them geographically, regionalize sales support and market development activities, and bring together research and development departments with the technical support team.
And Xeikon Belgium will stop or reduce unprofitable projects and activities.

Sales of digital printing presses under pressure

Luxembourg-based Flint's subsidiary since 2015 explains in a press release that digital printing technology has been "put to the test in recent years as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, coupled with inflation, high energy costs and rising wages.
He also believes that changing consumer behavior is exacerbating the situation, influencing print volumes and customer dynamics.
"These factors collectively put pressure on the company's ability to survive and thrive in today's business environment."
