Feedback from experience / Fujifilm's Acuity Ultra R2 at Les Ateliers Cassandre: "A step ahead"

This summer, Les Ateliers Cassandre commissioned France's first Acuity Ultra R2 5000. Clément Asnar shares his experience after more than three years with this Fujifilm large-format inkjet press.

To accelerate its development, Ateliers Cassandre achieved sales of over 1.5 million euros investment this year. In addition to hiring seven new employees, enlarging its building, installing solar panels and obtaining ISO 20121 certification, the company specializing in large-format event printing has added several new machines. Last August, the 34-employee company based in Wissous, in the Essonne region of France, installed a 5-meter-wide machine, the Acuity Ultra R2 5000 series from Fujifilm.

"We're the only ones to have it in France" says a delighted Clément Asnar. He and his team discovered this Acuity Ultra in operation at Fespa 2023 in Germany last May. It's the fastest model in the range, developed last year, with an eight-channel double CMYK UV configuration that reaches 400 m 2 /h.

Speed and "photo quality with Acuity Ultra R2

Its speed was decisive for the printer. "In the event industry, it's essential to respond very quickly to requests, and we had reached the end of our production capacity with our three other machines of the same width."

The entrepreneur is also particularly satisfied with the print quality: "This machine gives us photo quality of 1200 x 1200 dpi thanks to the 3.5 pl drop sizes, and it works equally well on flag-mesh and diffusing fabrics, which are truly extraordinary."

He also appreciates the automatic printhead nozzle management system, which maintains consistent print quality.

The Acuity Ultra R2 machine will not be able to create new applications in its own right. "On the other hand, we're going to be able to expand even further into very high-quality markets, such as luxury goods, where we already have customers. With this machine, we're one step ahead of their demand for quality."
