Packaging and labels: Fujifilm launches a high-resolution UV inkjet print bar

Fujifilm 46kUV inkjet print bar system

With the 46kUV system, conventional presses are enhanced with a 1200 DPI UV inkjet printing module compatible with variable data for label and packaging applications.

Fujifilm launches the 46kUV inkjet print bar system, designed for industrial production of a wide range of labels and packaging. This system complements an analog printing press offering high-quality variable data printing capabilities.

Featuring the Japanese manufacturer's Samba monochrome printhead technology, this UV print bar reaches speeds of up to 152 meters per minute (at 1200x600 DPI). It also offers a native resolution of 1200x1200 DPI. The 46kUV bar can also print single QR codes, as well as fonts of just two dots.

Fujifilm's 3IC document creation software is compatible with this system, enabling the creation of variable-data content.

This set of UV inkjet heads comes in four different print widths: 254, 330, 432 and 508 mm.

The 46kUV incorporates Fujifilm's patented ink recirculation, which minimizes the need for printhead reconditioning, says the manufacturer, and features an automated printhead cleaning and unclogging system.

"We've seen inkjet use continue to grow in the labeling and packaging markets due to its ability to produce high-quality prints incorporating variable data." says Greg Balch, Vice President and General Manager of Fujifilm Integrated Inkjet Solutions. "Our vision for the 46kUV inkjet print bar system is to fill an important gap in the market for high-resolution, high-reliability printing."
