Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure, the world's lightest heat-sealable flexible packaging paper

Koehler's NexPlus Seal Pure paper, weighing just 36 g/m2, is designed for primary and secondary packaging of food and non-food products, including brochures.

Koehler Paper launches Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure, "the world's lightest flexible heat-sealable packaging paper". Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure weighs just 36 g/m 2 the German papermaker's claim is that, while it reduces the use of materials in its production, it is also highly resistant. Made entirely from certified virgin fibers, it is designed for primary or secondary packaging of food and non-food products.

It is suitable for further processing on commercially available packaging machines for horizontal packaging formats, such as flow packs and wrapping paper. The substrate is also suitable for flexographic, digital and gravure printing.

"The biggest production challenge was speed, as it was crucial that the paper remained stable not only on our paper and coating machines, but also on our customers' packaging machines. Thanks to a combination of our state-of-the-art production line 8 in Kehl (Germany, Editor's note) and the expertise of our colleagues in the Flexible Wrapping Paper division, we were able to launch this paper," explains Joachim Uhl, Director of the Koehler paper mill in Kehl.

Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure also features low opacity, leaving the inside of the package visible or allowing a QR code to be scanned. Koehler sees this as an advantage when sending out brochures.

"The fact that we use 100% certified virgin fiber pulp in our production means that the paper is also suitable for food packaging. And it's already being used as secondary packaging." says Christoph Wachter, Head of the Flexible Packaging Paper Division at Koehler Paper.
