Van Genechten Packaging strengthens its European presence with the acquisition of Dot2Dot Group in Poland

Belgian manufacturer Van Genechten Packaging (VGP) acquires Polish group Dot2Dot, specialized in high-end folding cartons. This strategic acquisition enables VGP to extend its network in Eastern Europe, while strengthening its offering in the luxury and consumer goods sectors.

Van Genechten Packaging (VGP), a European player in folding packaging, has acquired all the shares of Dot2Dot Group, a Polish manufacturer renowned for its premium packaging. This strategic operation, still subject to approval by the anti-monopoly authorities, marks a new stage in VGP's expansion in the European market. With customers in the beauty, personal care, spirits and confectionery sectors, Dot2Dot has recognized expertise in high-end packaging. By acquiring this company, VGP is consolidating its position in the luxury and consumer goods packaging segment.

Two key plants in Poland

Dot2Dot operates two production sites in Poland, in Gdansk and Warsaw, with production capacity contributing to annual sales of over 50 million euros. The Polish group is the result of the merger of three local companies: Graf-Poz, Druk Markuszewscy and Drukpol, which created a solid industrial base in the packaging sector. This integration into the Van Genechten Group opens up new prospects for the Belgian company, both in terms of production capacity and in terms of expanding its customer portfolio in Central and Eastern Europe.

An independent, innovative European player

Van Genechten Packaging, founded almost 190 years ago, remains one of the last independent folding carton companies in Europe. With 12 production sites in nine countries, the Belgian company produces folding cartons and offset-laminated corrugated board for the consumer goods industry. It generates annual sales of around ?450 million and employs 1,700 people. By integrating Dot2Dot, VGP strengthens its network and adds premium know-how to its offering.

Prospects for Europe's packaging sector

Corporate consolidation in the packaging sector, as illustrated by this acquisition, demonstrates a trend towards seeking synergies and optimizing production capacities on a European scale. For industry players, this represents both development opportunities and competitive challenges, particularly in the face of growing expectations in terms of sustainability and technical innovation. By absorbing Dot2Dot, Van Genechten Packaging confirms its ambition to become a leader in high-end packaging in Europe.
