Asteria Group Acquires the British Company Abbey Labels

This new acquisition brings the number of production sites in the United Kingdom for the Belgian group Asteria to six.

More than 500 million labels produced each year: that is the manufacturing capacity Abbey Labels brings to the Asteria Group. The Belgian group, which specializes in labels and packaging, is continuing its external growth with the acquisition of this British printer based in eastern England.

Founded in the early 1970s by Peter Allum, Abbey Labels was originally a family-owned general printing business. Under the leadership of his son, Tom Allum, and his family, the business gradually shifted its focus to the manufacture of adhesive labels. The printing company, which employs about forty people, now produces products for various industries in the United Kingdom.

Abbey Labels has digital and flexographic printing capabilities, enabling it to handle both small and large production runs on a variety of substrates. It also produces multilayer labels and peel-and-reveal labels.
The facility also performs finishing and value-added processes. These capabilities complement the production capacity that Asteria Group already has in the United Kingdom.
Abbey Labels also holds BRC AA certification as well as ISO 14001 environmental certification.

This acquisition enables Asteria Group, which operates more than 40 plants in Europe, to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities in the U.K. market, where the Belgian group already had five printing facilities (Berkshire Labels, CS Labels, Compliance Labelling Solutions, ProPrint Group, and Mercian Labels, acquired last June).

Led by Ives Declerck, Asteria Group has more than 2,500 employees.
