Guyenne Papier, a paper mill based in the Périgord region of Nanthiat, and LFI Emballages, a manufacturer of packaging for dairy products based in Ecquevilly, Yvelines, have joined forces to offer a yoghurt pot made entirely from cardboard, which is plastic-free, recyclable and biodegradable. This French innovation is designed to meet growing environmental demands and consumer demand for more sustainable packaging.
This cardboard jar provides an effective barrier against water and grease, guaranteeing optimum product preservation. It meets current food contact standards, making it suitable for industrial use in dairy packaging.
"This single-material yoghurt pot is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic packaging (in PET or PS, Editor's note) the company is committed to reducing plastic waste and preserving the environment" the two companies assure us.
Guyenne Papier and LFI Emballages have filed a joint patent to protect this innovation.
Other manufacturers are also working to eliminate plastic from food packaging. By 2023, CEE Schisler has launched a recyclable cardboard yoghurt pot designed and manufactured in France, made from 80% paper .
