On its stand at Labelexpo Europe 2025, Bobst unveiled the FlexJet module for all-digital printing of multilayer labels. According to the Swiss manufacturer, this configuration is unprecedented in the industry.
FlexJet, for digital printing on front, back, substrate or adhesive surface
"We are seeing strong growth in demand for multilayer applications, driven by many factors âeuros regulatory and durability requirements, product information, nutritional values, multilingual warnings, or even promotional content and interactive features." explains Patrick Graber, marketing manager for the labels division. "Bobst already offers innovative solutions for producing multilayer labels with inline flexo, All-in-One machines and now an all-digital solution with FlexJet, which pushes the traditional boundaries of digital printing. "
The FlexJet integrates with the Digital Master 340 and 510 lines, enabling multiple inkjet units to be combined inline to produce multilayer labels in a single pass, with printing on the front, back, substrate and adhesive surface. This type of application is usually complex to manage with conventional or mixed processes, due to the multiplicity of steps required.

The module is based on inkjet technology developed in-house by Bobst, using Fujifilm Dimatix Samba heads. Its resolution reaches 1200 x 1200 dpi at rated speed, and it currently offers a black print bar. It will be available early next year.
A broader range of operational consulting services
In addition to the new machines, Bobst took advantage of the show to announce the extension of its Application Management service to the label sector. This program, already in place for the corrugated board, flexible packaging and folding carton markets, involves assisting customers with issues such as substrate selection, flow optimization and supply chain integration.
At the same time, a partnership has been set up with the Belgian consultancy firm Co-ëfficiënt, specialists in process improvement in industrial environments. The idea is to combine this partner's analytical tools and field services with the automation and monitoring solutions already present on Bobst lines.
